Finalization

Monday, June 8th, 2009

After months of caring for Mollie and watching her grow into a wonderful little baby girl, we are happy share that Mollie’s finalization is this Wednesday! We are more than excited to make the adoption documents official and welcome Mollie to our family. Well she already is part of our family but I guess in the legal sense? :)

She has grown strong and all she wants to do is talk, stand and be social. It is wonderful to see how much she has grown into a healthy baby. We are truly blessed and thankful for Mollie. She will be 5 months on June 14. :)

We are Parents!

On Jan. 14, 2009 our new baby daughter was born! The BM thought she was 7 months pregnant and actually was 9 months pregnant. We received a call from her that evening telling us she had the baby. She did not have pre-natal care so could be a reason why she didn’t know how far along she was?Anyway the BM and us connected from an ad we posted in The New Times. We got an 800 number, posted an ad starting in Dec to run for 8 weeks and received 3 phone calls New Year’s Day. It was pretty wild and we met 2 of the BM’s since they were local to us.

This has been an amazing experience and we had to make a decision quickly to adopt our daughter due to some BM issues she did not tell us about. At the end we decided to move forward and now we have a beautiful baby girl. AZ is 72 hours after the birth, BM signs consent. She signed POA and the lawyer called us to tell us we can move forward.

The final hearing is not for 3-6 months, when the court schedules it but everything else is complete. It has been a quick process and we know how fortunate we are. Baby Mollie is our first child. :)

Adoption Home Certified

Monday, November 24th, 2008

We have exciting news. We are home certified as adoptive parents in Arizona! :) The certification is good for 18 months and can be renewed for 2 times for 1 year each. Now we will send a copy of our certification to our lawyer who then will let us know th next steps.

We are very excited and thank our friends and family for all their love and support.

First Steps…

We decided to start the adoption process and went to the state orientation where they promoted Foster Care the entire time. Gave us some encouragement toward starting the adoption process but didn’t get enough information so we did more of our research online.

Connected with a referral service in California called Everlasting Adoption and luckily they were honest enough and smart enough to find that they couldn’t work with us since we are located in Arizona. But they helped us find an adoption lawyer, Dan Ziskin located in Phoenix.

We met with the lawyer and found out some wonderful and helpful information which gave us much hope in moving forward with the adoption process. We will begin the home certification course shortly and have been following Mr. Ziskin’s recommendations of “marketing” for a birth mother. At first it sounded a little odd but since we are not using an agency who would be doing the marketing for us, this made more sense.

Now its just patience and excitement all wrapped up into one emotion. :)
