Finalization

Monday, June 8th, 2009

After months of caring for Mollie and watching her grow into a wonderful little baby girl, we are happy share that Mollie’s finalization is this Wednesday! We are more than excited to make the adoption documents official and welcome Mollie to our family. Well she already is part of our family but I guess in the legal sense? :)

She has grown strong and all she wants to do is talk, stand and be social. It is wonderful to see how much she has grown into a healthy baby. We are truly blessed and thankful for Mollie. She will be 5 months on June 14. :)

We are Parents!

Monday, March 16th, 2009

On Jan. 14, 2009 our new baby daughter was born! The BM thought she was 7 months pregnant and actually was 9 months pregnant. We received a call from her that evening telling us she had the baby. She did not have pre-natal care so could be a reason why she didn’t know how far along she was?Anyway the BM and us connected from an ad we posted in The New Times. We got an 800 number, posted an ad starting in Dec to run for 8 weeks and received 3 phone calls New Year’s Day. It was pretty wild and we met 2 of the BM’s since they were local to us.

This has been an amazing experience and we had to make a decision quickly to adopt our daughter due to some BM issues she did not tell us about. At the end we decided to move forward and now we have a beautiful baby girl. AZ is 72 hours after the birth, BM signs consent. She signed POA and the lawyer called us to tell us we can move forward.

The final hearing is not for 3-6 months, when the court schedules it but everything else is complete. It has been a quick process and we know how fortunate we are. Baby Mollie is our first child. :)

Adoption Home Certified

Monday, November 24th, 2008

We have exciting news. We are home certified as adoptive parents in Arizona! :) The certification is good for 18 months and can be renewed for 2 times for 1 year each. Now we will send a copy of our certification to our lawyer who then will let us know th next steps.

We are very excited and thank our friends and family for all their love and support.

Adoptive Parents & Birth Mom

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Although we are going through the “waiting” period of finding a match, we are fully aware of the trust and emotions a birth mother will presently and will continually go through. We know this is a lifetime decision and we feel honored that you will be putting your trust and support within Aaron and myself to care, love and cherish your child.

How many agency’s or moderators give support to the birth mom after placement? Yes, during the whole decision time of placing the baby up for adoption, but what about after the placement? I am curious as I have read many recollection by birth mothers who say the adoptive family didn’t hold up to their promise of sending pictures and updates and how they struggle with even getting in contact with the family.

If the agency’s are charging adoptive families these high fees, does this fee include after care and after placement therapy? Can anyone answer this question?

Home Certified

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

We completed all our case worker adoption meetings and now all the information and paperwork will be going to the court. Our case worker said by December we should be receiving our home certification to be adoptive parents!

Aaron and I are so excited and know there will still be time to find a match BUT it is really happening! We are going to be parents and have a family one day which words cannot describe. We are sooo excited and can’t wait to be connected to a birthmother and child.

First Home Visit!

Monday, October 6th, 2008

We are very excited to start our home certification to be adoptive parents! Our case worker will be coming tomorrow for 2.5 hours to meet us and discuss more of the process and then we are going to meet her at the office on Wed for the individual meetings and then the papers go to the court.

We will ask a few more questions about when we should expect to be officially home certified and how long will it take for the court to approve us but it is really happening! We are on our way to becoming adoptive parents.

AZ Home Certification

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

We put our home certification application in about a month ago and we are now starting the home certification process with completion for December! Our case worker just called and she is VERY nice! All our referrals will get their documents to send in this week and we will complete our bios and background info for the case worker to review prior to our first home visit.

Our journey of having a family through adoption has begun! We are so excited and will keep everyone updated on the progress.

First Steps…

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

We decided to start the adoption process and went to the state orientation where they promoted Foster Care the entire time. Gave us some encouragement toward starting the adoption process but didn’t get enough information so we did more of our research online.

Connected with a referral service in California called Everlasting Adoption and luckily they were honest enough and smart enough to find that they couldn’t work with us since we are located in Arizona. But they helped us find an adoption lawyer, Dan Ziskin located in Phoenix.

We met with the lawyer and found out some wonderful and helpful information which gave us much hope in moving forward with the adoption process. We will begin the home certification course shortly and have been following Mr. Ziskin’s recommendations of “marketing” for a birth mother. At first it sounded a little odd but since we are not using an agency who would be doing the marketing for us, this made more sense.

Now its just patience and excitement all wrapped up into one emotion. :)

About Us

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Our names are Lisa and Aaron and are excited for you to be considering us as adoptive parents. We know this is a hard decision for you; both of us truly respect your love and courage you show by considering adoption for your baby. Please know that our hearts are open to you just as our hearts and arms will be open to your child. We are located in Arizona. We have been together for 10 years and married for 7 years. After 7 years of trying to start a family naturally and with the help of infertility treatments, we have not been blessed. We always considered adoption to start a family and now we are excited to be going through this journey.

Aaron is a Director of IT and has been working in the IT field for 15 years. Aaron’s schedule is flexible which allows him to work from home some days. He is loving, caring, successful and desires to be a father. I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching and own my own marketing business which allows me to work from home. I have over 10 years of teaching experience. The business was built to be flexible so I can be home to raise a child. Both of us come from strong family ties, with a loving and supportive environment. We have 3 nieces and 2 nephews and have years of experience with providing for children.

We enjoy spending time together whether it’s playing sports, going for hikes, going to sporting events, walking the dogs (Marley/Boxer and Olive), traveling, going to museums; and we want to share these experiences with a child. Aaron grew up playing soccer with his 3 brothers and is an avid reader. I danced ballet for 18 years with my 2 sisters, then taught ballroom dance as I got older. My hobbies include playing the piano, writing, playing sports, and we both like to experience life. We both grew up by NYC and culture was a big part of our lives and we will give the same opportunities to your child that our parents gave to us.

We offer a loving, supportive, stable and caring environment to a child with a wonderful extended family. We respect your decision and courage you are showing for your baby. If you would like to connect, we can be found at www.IWant2AdoptU.com,1-888-261-5250 or Lisa@IWant2AdoptU.com.
